When working with cabinet companies in Manchester, NH, many clients want to know how soon they can expect their cabinets to be delivered. This completely depends on the type of cabinet we are ordering.
At Elissa's Kitchen & Bath Design, we work with custom, semi-custom, and stock cabinetry manufacturers.
Custom cabinetry takes the longest because of special sizes, colors, and accessories. These cabinets are built from scratch once the order is placed. With custom cabinetry, we like to say, “If you can dream it, we can build it.” We've found that this process can take between eight and ten weeks from order to delivery.
Based on our prior experience, semi-custom cabinetry takes six to eight weeks. This type of cabinetry is more limited in customization options; therefore, most cabinets' boxes and doors are already prepared in standard sizes. Colors are standard, and only some customizations need to be built to order. Some semi-custom manufacturers do offer a custom color program if you want a color not offered in their standard line-up.
We've found that stock cabinets are the fastest option, taking between two and four weeks. Stock cabinetry is great for builders, home flippers, and homeowners looking for a quality cabinet on a tight budget. This type of cabinet does have custom modifications available for cabinet depth only, and we have a simplified SKU (stock-keeping unit) of colors and styles to choose from. You can choose to purchase some stock lines as RTA (ready to assemble) or fully assembled prior to delivery.
Granite and Quartz materials are the most popular choices for countertops in kitchen renovations and it's no surprise; not only is it a beautiful look it is also super durable and easy to keep clean.
These materials can also be used on other surfaces such as shower wall tops, benches, niches, and thresholds. Sometimes we even install these materials on windowsills and fireplace surrounds.
The process takes about 10-14 days from template to installation and these are the steps you must take:
1.) Select your material(s)
2.) Get a quote
3.) Purchase material- A 50% deposit is required to schedule the template. The balance is due before installation.
4.) Prepare the surface- cabinets must be secured to the floor, and level prior to installation. In some cases where there are overhangs for seating that extend beyond 12” you will need a support called a “stealth brace” installed. Be sure to have your contractor install this prior to countertop installation as the stone fabricators do not provide this service.
5.) Hire a licensed plumber to disconnect the plumbing before existing countertops are removed and disposed of. The plumber will come back a second time to reconnect the plumbing to your new sink. The fabricator or designer will help you choose your new sink and faucet in the design process. If you chose a farmhouse sink, this needs to be secured in its final position inside the cabinet before the template.
6.) Once the template is finished, it's time to fabricate! Of course, fabricators have a full schedule of fabricating materials for other homeowners, and commercial projects so patience is a virtue here. They do a great job of getting your granite fabricated within the week, and once that is done….
7.) It's time for installation! The day we have been waiting for. On this day make sure there is someone home to let the guys in with the stone. (contractors and designers can assist here if there is a conflict with your work schedule.
Hardware is not automatically added to your cabinet order. Doors and Drawers do not come pre-drilled for hardware either.
Talk to your designer about choosing hardware from the selection center in their showroom. They can help you take count of how many knobs/ pulls are needed and guide you in choosing the right style, color, and type for each cabinet in your kitchen or bathroom.
